LLB has learned from multiple MSL sources that the Ajax Rock are seeking league approval to move to Oakville in time for the 2013 MSL season. They would play out of the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre, joining the Jr. B Oakville Buzz as summer tenants.
Ajax team ownership and management is not expected to change with the move. The Oakville Titans have been affiliated with the Brampton Excelsiors which is expected to not change with the presence of a MSL team in Oakville.
This should be a positive step for Ajax in the long run as they will now be able to build from a stronger base then existing in Ajax and protect 2 graduating juniors out of Oakville. With a large number of Oakville players in Burlington and other Jr. A centres plus the Buzz, it's a larger base to draw from than what they had in Ajax. When you look younger and see Oakville has one of the largest minor organizations in Ontario, this only adds to the positives for the AP Rock.
Most importantly for Lacrosse fans, this should make Ajax more competitive on the floor and financially and lessen their need to sell off good young players. If this is true then MSL lacrosse will be better off with more parity and a stronger league overall.
